Departments The Office of International Scholars & Student Services ensures Rutgers, Newark's compliance with federal law concerning international students and scholars. The office has responsibility for all research scholars and faculty on J-1 visas to ensure compliance with federal regulations mandated by the Department of State (DOS), and all regulatory matters relating to the F-1 and J-1 categories. To this end, we provide assistance to university offices, academic departments, and Deans' offices on issues related to enrollment and hiring of international students, scholars, and faculty.
